Gelcoat / Fibreglass Care and Protection
Gelcoat fibreglass is polyester resin with the pigment in the resin, commonly used in boats, RV's, snowmobiles, jet ski's, etc. Gelcoat fibreglass rapidly fades and chalks with traditional maintenance being tedious and repetitive buffing and waxing.
303 Aerospace Protectant is an alternative to buffing and waxing. 303 restores like new color and gloss to faded gelcoat fiberglass by spraying on and polishing completely dry.
A new appearance is maintained with periodic spray on/wipe off applications usually every 45-60 days of exposure. Fibreglass shines. Colors stay bright.
In addition, the 303'd surface is extremely repellent to water, soiling and staining ... staying cleaner longer and clean up is much easier when soiled.
So for gelcoat fiberglass 303 Aerospace Protectant is a superior with respect to ease of use, level of protection, appearance and repellency.
Protection whilst Travelling
Are you tired to having to clean your RV after use?
Use 303 Aerospace Protectant to create a tough protective layer on your RV's gelcoat or fibreglass Area is sealed and protected, leaving a hard surface bond that cannot be penetrated. Bugs, road tar, tree sap and bird droppings all become much easier to remove and clean with 303.
* Stops bugs, tree sap, bird droppings from sticking to surface.
* Stops bug acid from eating through paint to metal surface.
* Clear long lasting coating. Easy to apply.
* Great on vehicle grills, bumpers, head lights and front of mirrors.
* Great for R.V's, 18 wheelers, Trucks and cars.
Vinyl Awning Protection
Most RV awnings are vinyl. Some are Sunbrella® , a specialized textile manufactured by Glen Raven Mills. Sunbrella® awnings are considered the upscale or premium awning. Maintenance for each is different.
RV Vinyl Awnings:
Maintain with periodic applications of 303 Aerospace Protectant. Benefits are:
Very repellent finish: Vinyl awnings stay resist soiling, stay cleaner longer and clean up much easier when finally soiled. There are two other beneficial aspects to this repellency.
303 treated vinyl awnings clean up so easily, `awning cleaners' are virtually never required. Since most products sold as awning cleaners contain bleach or other components harmful to vinyl, avoiding such products means a longer useful life for the awning.
303 treated vinyl awnings don't get as wet and dry much faster. Since 303'd awnings are less likely to get rolled up when they are still damp, mildew and mildew staining problems are less likely.
Protecting Rubber Seals
Rubber Seals - Not `Rubber' Anymore
Maybe not a surprise, but no longer are a car's rubber seals made from `rubber'. To keep the inside of your car quiet and dry, car makers use a specialized synthetic material called EPDM, (ethylene propylene diene monomer).
Real rubber, or blends containing real rubber, just cannot endure the direct exposure to sunlight(ultraviolet light) and the harmful-to-rubber oxidizing gases in our atmosphere (see Tech Facts Vol. 1). To quote from the engineering specs, EPDM is "Ideal for outdoor applications because of its excellent resistance to ultraviolet light, ozone, oxidants, and severe weather conditions".
EPDM is great stuff, but it has some downsides. It's tear resistance is only fair, so sticking & tearing is not uncommon. And just like real rubber, it has extremely poor resistance to solvents (petroleum distillates) and oils.
"You mean I don't have to `protect' my car's door & trunk seals?"
That's right, and treating your seals with a leading-brand "protectant" is almost always exactly the WRONG thing to do to your seals. Any chemical product that contains oils or petroleum distillates is incompatible with EPDM.
TIP: NEVER apply any rubber or vinyl treatment that has an oily or greasy nature or contains petroleum distillates. READ THE LABEL! If a product contains petroleum distillates, do not apply it to your rubber seals.
Though its powerful UV screening benefit is not needed in this application, 303 Aerospace Protectant is great for cleaning EPDM seals and to keep them clean. 303 Aerospace Protectant makes EPDM seals look like new and PREVENTS sticking and tearing. Because it is safe for EPDM and prevents sticking & tearing, manufacturers exclusively recommend 303 Aerospace Protectant for this application.
Plexiglass Protection
303 Aerospace Protectant cleans up Plexiglass!
Plexiglass is a term used loosely to refer to several "hard" clear plastics used in lieu of glass, two of the most common being Lexan® and acrylic. You see this material every day. The enclosures at the bus stop; the windows on subway cars, buses, trains and aircraft; the windshields on race cars; the domed vent covers on the roof of a motor home or travel trailer; the clear panels that keep party-ers from falling out of the sky boxes at football stadiums and protect fans from 100 mph hockey pucks; a motorcycle's windshield, the visors on fireman and motorcycle helmets ... and a thousand other uses.
These are great plastics, but share some common downsides:
1). They oxidize (fog, haze) over time due to UV exposure.
2). They scratch fairly easily.
When visibility degrades to the point to where something must be done, the manufacturers recommend one thing: Replacement!
The thing to do is prevent the oxidation and minimize the scratching. The product that does just this, and wonderfully, is 303 Aerospace Protectant. Start using 303 Aerospace Protectant when the material is new and reapply periodically.
Use 303 Aerospace Protectant to:
* To protect against UV light and prevent oxidation.
* To repel smudging, dirt, and grime, extend the time between cleanings and make it clean up easier when cleaned.
* To reduce scratching by making the surface so super smooth that objects coming in contact with the 303-treated surface that would normally dig in a scratch are often deflected instead.
